Daily I find myself racing against the buzzer of the CrossFit clock, only to honor the method of “work capacity across broad TIME and modal domains”. In the world of CrossFit, one would say that the standard of measuring time is how we achieve observable and repeatable data. Often, I question this notion of limiting yourself to this one dimensional approach of evaluating our progress inside and outside of our physical development temples (aka CrossFit gyms). On the other side of health and wellness, we somehow create a culture that dreads the timeline of our physical existence. The narrative of “getting older” is a debate that is corrupted by poor philosophies. Thus, Coach Shaman is summoned to be the guide who creates a positive perspective towards the concept we know as aging. Yet, I question how I can find peace and knowledge towards the timekeeper within all that exists?

3,2,1…Go! The primal frequency of CrossFit

My life becomes limited to a condensed form of scheduling classes, meeting clients, routine customs, standard chores, and creating content. This human experience that I live is measured by the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years. These time based limitations, within this fixed reality, are what allow me to accomplish my passions and purposes. Still, too many… times… I become stuck within a loop of thoughts that hold me hostage to the clock of life. I question myself worrying about the miniature of minutes, or patching in the patterns of space within this illusion that we know as time.

Illusion you say Coach Shaman? So you’re saying that the time we experience is not “real”?!

Science tells us yes, and no…

In certain theories of physics, like Einstein’s theory of relativity, time is not a constant. It can bend, stretch, and even slow down depending on speed and gravity. Another way to think about this is that the concepts of past, present and future are technically happening all at once. Meaning, if these layers bend/fold on top of each other, there is only the one true concept of the #HERE and N:OW. This suggests that time is relative, dependent on one’s frame of reference. Furthermore, spiritual science explains to us how time is a construct of what is known as the third dimension within our consciousness. Because we are multidimensional beings, each of our layers of self are embedded within a specific frame of awareness, thus time being one of them! In this sense, we become aware of time in the third dimension by the way we are influenced by our biological rhythms, cultural conditioning, and the limitations of our senses.

Science is trippy, bruh!

Ok Science is cool, but where are we going from #HERE?

How often do we create a narrative to ourselves that we are victims to the essence of time? We are often placed in fear from the illusion of being too early, or too tardy, never to realize that we are always in the right place, at the right time. We are always exactly where we need to BE. Hint: Think about how time folds and bends 🙂

Now hold tight before you take this too literally and start showing up to your obligations without a care in the world. This perspective is to simply allow us to find peace, and presence within each and every moment. This is because…

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us”

-J.R.R Tolkien, “The Fellowship of the Ring”

I reference to Tolkien’s quote to highlight a timeless truth: the importance of choosing how we use the time we have, rather than letting it dictate our emotions or actions. I come back to this quote quite often when I discover my own personal battles with “time anxiety”. Within the early stages of Lord of the Rings, Frodo creates a mental narrative of fear in his mind. This is due to the regret for taking on the burden for his long journey ahead into Mordor. Rightfully so, his fear of future failure and past regrets misalign him from his destiny and true purpose. However in true Gandalf fashion, he provides Frodo a gift of wisdom through this quote. Allowing Frodo to come back to center, and be in the present moment even during the darkest times of their fates (see video for reference!).

How do I come back to Center?

I am fortunate to have evolved in my perspective of this illusion we know as time. Through daily meditation, psychedelics, breathwork, grounding practices, and gratitude, I have learned how to expand my consciousness within this third dimension where time exists. These tools are specifically designed to alter our perception towards our multidimensional self, thus making time feel slower, faster, or even irrelevant. This altered state can help us understand that time, as we usually experience it, is just one aspect of a larger reality. Through these practices, we often report feeling a sense of timelessness—a state where the past, present, and future merge into a single, continuous experience. This can be seen as tapping into a more profound understanding of reality, where the constraints of the third dimension no longer apply.

#GiftForGrowth: Deciding what to do with the TIME given to us

As I could go deep into the quantum physics, and the spirituality to time, I find it important to keep this a ground level. When you find that you are having time anxiety, take three deep breaths, and remind yourself that this illusion is an orchestrated gift. It’s a beautiful reminder to be mindful and intentional with the time we have, to live fully in the present, and to embrace the journey, no matter how uncertain it may seem.

Find awe in the little things time presents to you…
